This post is brought to you by Boudreaux’s Butt Paste and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
My husband’s co-worker just had her first baby and I was able to go have some fun at the store picking out gifts for her new baby girl. It’s been a long time since I’ve gone shopping for someone else’s baby. Before I hit the store, I polled my Facebook friends to find out what they’d like to receive if they were getting a gift for their brand new baby. I got some very practical answers and some pretty crazy answers.
Some of the most practical gift ideas were:
- iTunes Gift Card
- Certificates for help such as a night out, dinner brought to them, etc.
- Gift card for a massage or mani and pedi
- Gift Cards for a restaurant that delivers
- Coffee
- Nursing Pads
- Chocolate
- Fuzzy Socks
Some of the crazy ideas?
- Vodka
- Sleeping Pills
- An All-Expense Paid Vacation
- A Housekeeping Staff
- Nanny
I decided to go practical all the way in my gift basket. I have never even met his client, so I wouldn’t know what to get her besides practical. I went with a pack of diapers, some wipes, onsies and pajamas, a paci grip, and of course some Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. For the clothes I decided not to go with newborn or even 0-3 months, because I always get the most in those sizes and then run out of clothes after baby grows out of 0-3 months.
One of the things I love to use with my kids is Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. I like that there are three different formulas for different applications. If you just need some good diaper rash protection, you can go with Original. Dp you have a stubborn rash that won’t go away? Try the Maximum Strength Butt Paste. If you are cloth diapering, you can use the All Natural Boudreaux’s Butt Paste; it is petroleum free so it won’t cause a build up in your diapers. (You still may want to use a liner, though, so it doesn’t stain your diapers.)
I normally also make some meals for the new mom that she can either eat right away or freeze. I didn’t this time because I’m just a little swamped with a still pretty new baby at home myself! My two year old asks for “butt stuff” when she gets her diaper changed when she’s starting to feel a little off down there. It has to be when she feels off, because she doesn’t ask for it on every diaper change. She becomes very obstinate about it, too, when she wants it, you’d better put it on of she will throw a fit! We have our Butt Paste with us at all times in case she needs it. ]
I would love to hear your “Butt Paste love” by sharing a story on social media that includes the hashtag #ButtPasteMom and tags @ButtPaste on Facebook and/or @ButtPasteBaby on Instagram.

I like giving diapers. They are useful and can be exchanged for a bigger size if necessary.
Gift cards. then she can get what she wants!
I like to give them something for them. Something that knows that someone is thinking of them when everyone else is cooing over the new baby. So many women have postpartum depression that I think a little gift is the least I can do to try to raise their spirits that someone is worried about them too.

My favorite gift for a new mom is diapers. You can’t ever go wrong with that gift.
Books and larger size clothes.
I have a few friends who either just had a baby or are expecting. I love to give gift cards but also all the little things that made my life easier when my babies were babies.
Diapers! You can never have too many.
If it’s a close friend, I like to make a diaper cake. If it’s just someone I know then I get them a temporal thermometer almost every time.
People are always giving diapers, baby gear and clothing. I like to give gift cards for grocery delivery services or restaurants that deliver. Having those on hand makes it easy when things are changing so quickly in your home and family and everyone is tired.
I like giving mom’s something for themselves, a massage gift card, new slippers, witchazel pads or nursing clothes!
diapers and or a boppy, they are great for both nursing and bottle feeding
Wine, organic oils, face mask, organic candy for mom and diapers.
I like to make a meal for a new mom/parents/family. Then I take a cute outfit or some diapers with me for the baby.
This would be great for any new mom!
Gift cards are my go to!
This would be a great gift! I just had my sixth baby, my first little girl and this would be useful for sure.
Diapers!
Gift card for a mani and pedi.
I make meals for them after the baby is born
I’ve never had to give a new Mom a gift, but I will soon because my brother’s wife is pregnant and is due in July.
I give gift cards, and I usually try to get one for a photo book, because now everyone takes 1 million photos and then never prints them!
If it’s a good friend, I come by, shoo them to take a nap, and I clean and run some laundry fo them, while watching the baby.
I shared the giveaway on my Facebook page, you can find it at: https://www.facebook.com/billie.rowell/posts/10153852592264580.
Definitely diaper rash cream and diapers / wipes.
Also, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but as a mom with stomach issues, I have been known to grab the Butt Paste for SRA- In my house, we cal lit Screamin’ Red Ass. Because, dayum. Even grownups get red ass. 🙂
This is awesome! I could definitely use it, but I’d love to win it so I could gift it to a friend of mine that is a very new foster Mama. Good luck all!
As a mom of twins, I need all the butt paste I can get my hands on! Thanks for this opportunity. I’m totally happy to be a #buttpastemom

My niece is having a baby in October and I am so excited. This would be great for her!
I love giving new moms a practical gift such as a gift basket with bottles, burp clothes, pacifiers, and other necessities
I loved butt paste with the boys and will always give it as a gift-plenty of people to choose from right now ?
I like to buy a nippy since I used one for nursing.
I hand knit hats for the special babies in my life.
I think a great gift for a new mom is anything on her registry and of course, cute clothes!
Gift cards are a go-to because you can never be sure what the mom will have too much of or be low on!
We love but paste! Great gift idea
I love to give a nose Friday or cloth diapers if the mama is open to it, otherwise, I love muslin or bamboo swaddling blankets
