My husband’s work is having a slow cooker chili cook-off this Friday and he signed up to bring a dessert. Keeping with the slow cooker theme, I decided to try to make a pie in the slow cooker. I threw a few different recipes together to make this. You can definitely make it with raw apples that cook all day but he’s only going to have a few hours to have this come together on Friday so I’m using pie filling. I was sent some Lucky Leaf pie filling for a recipe coming up (they sent me extras) so I’m using the premium apple pie filling for this recipe.

It’s amazing sometimes what you can do with a crock pot. That said, I can make applesauce in my crockpot filled to the brim in a little over 3 hours. I’ve never had a pie filling taste as good as homemade, but this still sounds good. Here’s hoping he does well in the chili cookoff. Yum!

Sounds really delicious… I have done this once before, too.
I was going to a Christmas party after work (years ago when I was working) and needed to bring a dessert, so I set up my slow-cooker at work and made it while I worked. I used raw uncooked apples and it came out delicious.
Don’t you just LOVE slow-cookers? Hope hubby’s chili comes out a winner.

The cherry version of this was very tasty.
Thanks Charles and Paula.

You’re welcome! Glad it turned out. I was nervous with it being transported before cooking. 🙂

Me too, I cooked for 3 hrs and it was a little too long.

Now that you told me it was the white crockpot, I believe it. That one has always seemed to run too hot. I remember always having no luck when I first starting cooking in a crockpot. That’s why.

I’m really looking forward to making these for a cold winter evening. I like easy recipes that don’t take a lot to make!
