The Last Snowman Blog Tour #TheLastSnowman

Winter is coming to a close… I hope! I heard there may be a major snowstorm again next week, though. I sure hope not! My kids have loved playing in the snow this year, but the problem is most days have been way below zero and too cold to play outside. Sunday they decided to go play outside after church and they made their own sled hill out of the snow bank on the side of our road. The played on that hill for hours and it was great to see them outside having fun!

Playing in the Snow #TheLastSnowman

I had great intentions of making hot chocolate for them when they came in and using my friend’s idea of decorating marshmallows with snowman faces, but I had no marshmallows. Actually I absolutely love this recipe for slow cooker hot chocolate called Snowman Soup and would have had that made if I had the ingredients for it

Snowman Soup Recipe #TheLastSnowmanI also wanted to make melted snowman cookies or melted snowman cupcakes with the kids but, again, ran into the problem of having no marshmallows in my house. What’s wrong with me?!

Melting Snowman Cupcakes #TheLastSnowmanOne thing I was able to do, though, is read to my kids The Last Snowman by JC Little. I LOVE JC’s drawings on The Animated Woman. I’ve been following her for quite some time and was super excited when I got to meet her at BlogHer last year. One of these days I’ll get her to draw me! The LAST Snowman is written and illustrated by JC. It’s a very sweet book which I think is really geared more towards moms who have to watch their children grow up way too quickly. It’s a short story about her 14 year old daughter building a snowman. My kids thought the end was kind of funny. That’s kids for ya! Here’s the official description:

This afternoon it snowed. It was probably one of the last snows of the winter, so it was lovely sticky snow…perfect for making a snowman.” So begins the funny and poignant tale of a teenage girl and a dangerously tall snowman.

From the kitchen window, a mother watches her teenage daughter build one last snowman in the fresh spring snow. The girl works diligently, and, with some help from her little brother, she constructs a dashing giant. But wet snow and gravity take their toll, leaving a young girl who has perhaps loved and lost for the very first time.

The LAST Snowman is a book with timeless appeal for children and adults alike. Award-winning story artist JC Little has playfully captured a “moment” in family life, marking the ephemeral grace between childhood and adolescence.

You can buy The LAST Snowman on Amazon in paperback or on Kindle. The Kindle version is designed to ‘animate’ in the page flips which is a new and fun way to read Kindle books! You can also purchase the book on Createspace. I am also hosting a giveaway here for you to win your own copy and some fun SWAG!

In the prize pack you will receive:

  • A paperback copy of The LAST Snowman
  • Zazzle The LAST Snowman Coffee Mug
  • A Boiron prize pack (which may differ from the picture above) since the book is winter themed!
  • Dot and Lil prizes: Dot & Lil are designing a custom soap just for The LAST Snowman blog tour – Limited edition “Hot Chocolate Swirl” soap! It’s going to be chocolate scented and will have chocolate soap sprinkles on top, with the book cover design on the label. Fun right? Also included in the Dot & Lil gift bag will be the Shea Rescue Butter for lips and nails.

What a cute book! Abby would love it, I’m sure. We love to go sledding. Too bad it’s been so cold this year, we’ve only gone out once.
