This is a guest post brought to you by Sara Phillips:

Olympian David Wise

This year, the Winter Olympics start the day after my birthday – February 7th! I enjoy watching the games and seeing how the participants’ hard work is displayed. But I often wonder, how do participants that are also parents do it?! How do they train, stay focused, spend time with their kids? And then, what do they expect from their kids?

David Wise, a participant in the 2014 Sochi Olympic games, is unquestionably one of the top athletes in his sport – freeskiing. Freeskiing is making its Olympic debut so as an inaugural athlete, these games are especially important for David. Aside from being at the top of his game athletically, David’s other major role is being dad to two year old Nayeli. As an athlete, he is used to wanting the best for his performance and now he also wants the best for his own growing and developing little athlete.

Luckily, I had the opportunity to ask David five questions.

Here’s what I asked:

1. How do you stay focused to prepare for the Olympics with a little one at home?
2. Do you hope your daughter, Nayeli, will be an Olympian?
3. What’s your favorite thing to do with your daughter?
4. What’s your favorite thing about being a dad?
5. What’s the hardest thing about being a dad?

And here are David’s answers:

Do you enjoy watching the Winter Olympics?
