About a year ago, I introduced you to Hexbugs here on my blog. These are toys that all three of my kids love even though they are geared more towards boys. When I went to BlogHer this year I was introduced to Hexbug Warrior Battling Robots. They’re a really neat toy that has interchangeable body armor that they can battle each other with.

You can get a single Warrior for $7.99, the Battle Arena (which we have) for $19.99 or the Battle Stadium for $29.99. I’m sure the stadium will end up on one of my boys’ Christmas lists, because they were complaining that the Arena isn’t big enough. The Hexbug Warriors have two modes that you can run them in. You can run them in training mode, where their life isn’t taken away from them when they fight, or you can run them in fight mode so that when bumped by another Hexbug it slowly takes away their life force. Once the light on top of the bug goes red, the other bug is the winner.

It’s definitely fun to watch these little bugs battle each other. I did take a video, but for some reason it disappeared from my camera. I’d re-shoot, but for some reason one of the bugs batteries died after less than one hour of playing with it.  I’ve never had Nano batteries run out that quickly so I’m hoping it was just a fluke. Unfortunately Buddy was pretty upset to find out that his bug was dead when he only got to play with it for 10 minutes this morning. Little Man had a playdate this afternoon where he played with the Hexbugs for no more than 20 minutes. When Buddy got home, he turned it on and played for maybe 5 minutes before he complained that the bug’s light immediately turned red and it stopped running. I have Hexbug batteries somewhere in this house, but I don’t know where.

Beware that the pieces for the Hexbug Warriors are small. The packaging does say ages 6 and up. Little Man plays great with them, but his pal is 2 and within the few minutes they were playing with them, the little parts were all over the house. Overall, this is a fun toy and I would recommend it. Just make sure that you have backup batteries standing by!

Note: I received a Hexbug Warriors Battling Robot Arena in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.
