I’m always looking for meals that are easy to throw together but that my family will actually eat. Sometimes I feel like finding something everyone likes is harder than actually making dinner!

This Boursin Chicken and Orzo Bake was definitely a winner.

It’s one of those dinners where you put almost everything into one baking dish, put it in the oven, and let it do its thing. The Boursin melts into the chicken broth and heavy cream while the orzo cooks, making everything creamy without having to make a separate sauce.

Even better, there aren’t a bunch of pots and pans to wash when dinner is over.

This one has officially made it into our dinner rotation.

Why I Love This Boursin Chicken and Orzo

Besides the fact that my family likes it, I love how easy this is to put together.

You don’t have to cook the orzo first. You don’t have to make a cream sauce. You don’t even have to brown the chicken.

Everything cooks together in the same baking dish.

I use chicken thighs because they stay tender and work really well in a baked dish like this. The Boursin does most of the work when it comes to flavor, and the lemon and seasonings keep the cream sauce from feeling too heavy.

Boursin Chicken and Orzo Bake

Ingredients

  • Olive oil or avocado oil spray
  • 4 chicken thighs, diced
  • 1 5.2 oz package Garlic & Fine Herbs cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 3–4 teaspoons minced garlic
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 16 oz orzo
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Parmesan cheese, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Spray a baking dish with olive oil or avocado oil spray.
  3. Add the diced chicken, orzo, garlic powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, salt and pepper to the baking dish.
  4. Stir everything together and make a space in the middle of the dish.
  5. Place the Boursin cheese in the center.
  6. Pour the chicken broth and heavy cream into the baking dish and add the lemon juice.
  7. Give everything a gentle stir around the Boursin, making sure all of the orzo is underneath the liquid.
  8. Bake for approximately 20–40 minutes, checking it toward the earlier end of the cooking time. The chicken should be fully cooked and the orzo tender.
  9. Stir the melted Boursin into the chicken and orzo until everything is creamy and well combined.
  10. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top and serve.

A Few Tips

Keep the orzo under the liquid. This is probably the most important part of the recipe. Any orzo sticking up above the broth and cream may stay hard instead of cooking properly.

Start checking it early. Ovens and baking dishes can make a difference in cooking time. Check the chicken and orzo rather than relying only on the clock.

Don’t skip the lemon. It adds a little brightness that works really well with the creamy Boursin sauce.

Can I use chicken breasts instead of chicken thighs?
Yes. Cut boneless, skinless chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and make sure they reach 165°F before serving.

Do I cook the orzo before adding it?
No. Add the orzo uncooked. It cooks directly in the chicken broth and cream while the casserole bakes.

What kind of Boursin should I use?
Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs works especially well in this recipe. (

What to Serve With It

Since the chicken and orzo are already pretty rich and filling, there’s no need to make complicated sides.

Roasted broccoli, green beans, asparagus or a simple salad would all work well.

Honestly, though, on a busy weeknight this can easily be dinner all by itself.

If you’re looking for another easy meal to add to your family’s dinner rotation, give this Boursin Chicken and Orzo Bake a try. It’s creamy, filling, doesn’t require a pile of dishes and—most importantly around here—it’s something the family will actually eat.
