Summer is a great time to spend outdoors with family, friends, and loved ones. This is little wonder, as the weather is ideal for various activities like hiking, swimming, walking, picnics, get-togethers, and so on. Despite these, it’s not without its discomforts. The warm weather can cause you to sweat more, making you feel hot and sticky. This, in turn, can make you more irritable or angry. Moreover, summer also draws insects and other critters that can annoy you. Therefore, dressing appropriately for summer is essential. Fortunately, you can look your best without sacrificing comfort. Here’s how to achieve this.

  1. Choose the right fabrics

You are likelier to perspire more due to the heat. Therefore, choosing the right fabrics is mandatory to ensure comfort as you go about your daily activities during the summer. Familiarizing yourself with various fabrics can help you make an informed decision. For instance, cotton is lightweight, breathable, and absorbs moisture quickly, making it a good choice. Moreover, it is cost-effective and versatile, often used in casual and formal attires. Linen is also lightweight and highly absorbent, ideal for extremely hot temperatures.

Other summer-friendly fabrics include khaki, terry-rayon, silk, chambray, seersucker, flannel, viscose, and chiffon. On the other hand, certain fabrics aren’t comfortable for warmer temperatures. For example, most synthetic fabrics like nylon, polyester, and acrylic tend to trap moisture and heat on your skin due to their low absorption levels. Other fabrics to avoid are fleece and vinyl, so keep this in mind.

2. Invest in loose clothing

While tight-fitting attires may enhance your figure, they may not be ideal for summer. This is because they can trap heat and restrict airflow, causing you to feel uncomfortable. Moreover, you risk experiencing chaffing, rashes, and other skin irritations with tight clothes. On the other hand, loose clothing allows blood to circulate freely and your skin, causing your body to expel heat quickly. Therefore, opt for loose clothing options to fully enjoy your summer experience. While people may associate loose attires with frumpiness, this is far from the truth.

Several stylish options are available, and you can choose what suits your style best. For instance, maxi dresses elongate your silhouette, making you look slimmer. You can wear them for errands, a wedding, and so on. Other flattering options include boho dresses, empire-waist dresses, A-line dresses, wrap dresses, and so on. You can also find loose-fitting and attractive outfits from a credible ladies online boutique, so feel free to consider this.

3.Choose your colors wisely

Your fabric colors can determine their comfort, so choosing the right options is essential. Admittedly, darker shades like black and navy blue attract heat and cause you to sweat more. While this is unpleasant in its right, it can also attract bugs like mosquitoes which are attracted to the carbon dioxide released with excess sweat. Therefore, your best bet is to stick with lighter, more vibrant colors. Not only are they functional, but they effectively communicate summer cheeriness. You can get clothes in shades like mandarin orange, white, khaki, candy apple red, fuchsia, turquoise, and so on.

4. Don’t forget your footwear

Another important aspect of comfortable summer clothing is your footwear. The right shoes can make walking and other activities more convenient, so feel free to consider this. Several summer footwear is in the market, each with its unique functions. For instance, flip-flops and slide-ins are ideal for the beach, pool parties, summer barbecues, and so on. They are comfortable and versatile, working with causal outfits. Flat sandals are more formal than flip-flops but offer a casual, relaxed look. Neutral sandals can work with various color shades, so keep this in mind. Other summer-friendly footwear includes loafers, sneakers, mules, clogs, espadrilles, espadrille wedges, gladiators, and so on. The right shoe size is crucial for preventing foot pain and other issues.

6. Splurge on accessories

The goal is to exude confidence and style while feeling comfortable, so get the right accessories. For instance, you can invest in a straw hat to protect your face from the sun while giving your outfit a touch of glam and elegance. It’s worth noting that these hats come in different styles, ranging from fedoras to floppy hats, boaters, and Panama hats. Sunglasses are also a summer staple, so feel free to get one. Experts recommend purchasing polarized types to protect your eyes from excessively bright sunlight.

Summer is a great time to enjoy various outdoor activities, and dressing appropriately for these occasions is beneficial. Hopefully, you’ll consider the above tips to achieve the desired outcome.
