The world is full of some truly fantastic places that we should all make an effort to travel to. When you look at a global map, some areas of the world jump out more so than others. One area, in particular, is Southeast Asia. Here, you have a host of islands and countries that make for ideal travel destinations – including Thailand!

Thailand is a hugely popular travel destination amongst backpackers, couples, solo travelers, and families. It has so many wondrous delights – which is probably why tourists are keen to go there. Nevertheless, you need to know some general Thailand travel advice before setting off on the trip of a lifetime. Here are three key things to keep in mind:

See if you need a visa

Depending on where you’re from – or where your passport is registered – you may or may not need a visa to Thailand. Most Americans can visit this country for up to 30 days without any visa requirements at all.

However, be aware that you will need a visa if you travel for more than 30 days. In this guess, check that you’re getting the right one. Don’t make the mistake of getting an ED visa for Bangkok if you’re not going there to study! Do the research to see which visas you’re eligible for and which one is right for your stay.

Take out some travel money

Unlike most places in the world, Thailand hasn’t really adopted a cashless approach to transactions. Cash is still the main way to pay for things here, mainly because there are so many street markets and local vendors. It’s more convenient and cheaper for them to ask for cash rather than get payment processing systems.

Anyway, be sure you take out some travel money before your trip as you will struggle to pay via card in most of Thailand’s hot tourist spots.

Dress for humidity

Thailand is known for many things. It has a delightful cultural scene with magnificent food, temples, and a modest way of life. But, it’s also famous for its unique weather climate. The position of Thailand on planet earth means it tends to get really hot and humid all the time.

Make sure you dress for this weather; pack things that are light and airy. It’s also a smart idea to get a light raincoat just in case there’s a monsoon.

Ensure you have your jabs

Before setting off on your travel, check that you’re vaccinated against hepatitis A and tetanus. These vaccinations are necessary for Thailand as these diseases can be contracted. It’s also worth getting a yellow fever jab too. Don’t let this scare you; it’s perfectly normal to get vaccinations when traveling the world. They aren’t legal requirements, but you should still get them for your own health and safety.

It’s always fun to travel the world and see what lies in store overseas. Thailand is such a majestic destination to consider for your next vacation. There are plenty of things to see and do – you can spend ages planning a travel itinerary here. Just remember to keep the four things above in mind before setting off on your trip. They’ll ensure you’re ready for what lies ahead!
