Back in high school I wanted to be in the musical, but when I auditioned I didn’t make it. I did play in the orchestra, though. I’ve always loved musicals. My sister introduced me to the music a long time ago. One of my favorite musicals is Miss Saigon and I hadn’t listened to the music in YEARS. Well, a few months ago I pulled out my old CDs and popped them into the car while driving the kids to school. I quickly turned it off. I forgot how much swearing was in it! I wasn’t too worried about the references made in the music yet, because I don’t think my kids would understand it. Miss Saigon is definitely not kid friendly, though!
I love that Netflix has some musical options that are family friendly. My dad used to love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. He bought it for me a long time ago to show the kids. It’s still in it’s wrapper in a box somewhere. Whoops! I have always been in love with Grease; I always wanted to be Sandra Dee in the last number. 🙂 One of my other favorite musicals is Phantom of the Opera; I just love the music in it.
I just threw on Phantom while writing this post. It reminded me of wanting to play in the orchestra for Phantom when I was a teen. What is your favorite musical?
I love Phantom! It’s so weird with High School musical now because all the kids are so old now 😛
I love all the fun movies, Grease and Dirty Dancing are two fo my faves!
I love Lés Mis – I could sing those songs for hours – I’m a fan of Phantom too, Masquerade is actually my text tone on my phone!

Some of those are among our favorites. I love Grease and the boys love Shrek. I have seen High School Musical a few too many times I think.
