Kodak PIXPRO SP1 Video Contest and Review {Please Vote for Me!}

I was recently invited to a campaign where I would receive a Kodak PIXPRO SP1 Action Cam to take a video and compete against 7 other people in their #MomsMVP contest. We were to take a video of our kids being full of action on our new cameras and we are facing off against each other on Facebook. Voting started today at 11am Eastern. I’ll share more info about the contest in a minute. First I wanted to share my thoughts on the camera itself.

I was very surprised when I opened the box to find out how little the camera was! I pulled it out and played with it for a minute before plugging it into the charger so we could go outside and have some fun. I love that the camera is rechargeable and that it uses the standard charging plug that all androids use!

I was REALLY wishing we had the time to go to an indoor pool to get some underwater shots, because this camera is waterproof up to 32 ft! I can imagine my family having a lot of fun with this camera this summer. I love that it’s also shockproof up to 6.5 feet, dustproof, and freezeproof. You’ll see in the video below that my husband actually tossed the camera around with my son and a neighbor boy to show you what it can do!

The Kodak Action Cam comes with a vented Helmet Strap Mount, Bar mount, a Curved Adhesive Mount and a Flat Adhesive Mount to make it easier to have some hands free fun with the camera! It also comes with a Standard Lens Cover and an Underwater Lens Cover. The camera is compatible with microSD/SDHC memory cards up to 32GB and the internal memory is about 100MB. It also can connect wirelessly to your phone! You can download the PIXPRO SP1 app and connect your phone to your camera so you can control your camera right there in your hands and not be near the camera. I think this is a GREAT option, however I wish they had done the connection via Bluetooth instead of WiFi. When you connect to the camera, it takes away any ability to use the internet because your WiFi is being used for the phone. I’m a multi-tasker and want to be able to switch back and forth between my camera, email, and Facebook without having to disconnect and reconnect to the camera. That is really my only negative feedback on the camera. I think it’s a ton of fun to play with, easy to use, and FUN to use.
