Shine Activity Tracker

My husband got a new toy to play with! It was supposed to be mine, but the new Shine Elegant Activity Tracker only works with Apple products and since he stole my iPad shortly after I bought it and claimed it for his own, he’s the only one that can use the Shine.

Shine is a gorgeous device that will empower people to be more proactive about their personal health. Shine Features: •Activity Tracking, •Steps, •Activities: Swimming, Biking, Tennis, etc., •Sleep, •Calories, •Clock, •Waterproof, •Extra Accessories (includes Magnet clip), •Leather Bands, •Sport band, •Necklace

Shine Elegant Activity Tracker

I was SO looking forward to wearing an activity tracker that is waterproof!! You can see in the picture above, the two ways you can wear the Shine that come in the box. You get the watchband bracelet and a magnetic clip. My husband prefers to wear it on his wrist. There are no actual numbers on the Shine, but there are dots all around it and when you double tap on the “screen” it will light up the lights to tell you what time it is and then how you’re doing on your activity for the day.

Shine Set Up Process

Setting up the Shine took approximately twenty minutes. The first picture shows you the tool that you use to open the Shine to put a new battery in. Don’t lose it! The rest of the set up is done on your Apple device. You set up your personal profile, set your goals and then place the Shine on the screen to sync.

Shine Activity Screens

My husband set himself up as Pretty Active, which he is on weekends, but during the week he has a desk job and he doesn’t have the time to be pretty active. He said he’s having a hard time reaching his goal and he’s not exactly sure what he needs to do to reach that goal. At least with the activity trackers we’ve used in the past, your goal is how many steps and it’s easier to figure out how much farther you have to go. I think part of it is not being able to see the whole display on the Shine. He doesn’t always have his iPad with to check in and see how many minutes more he needs to walk or exercise to reach his goal. I think once he’s worn it a while longer he’ll get the hang of it. Other than that, he’s really liking the Shine.

Shine is exclusively available in additional colors at Best Buy including Silver, Black, Champagne and Topaz and is currently priced at $99.99.  You can also purchase additional accessories to make it a necklace or a more elegant watchband. This would be a great present for the fitness enthusiast on your list that owns an Apple product to sync to.

They have so many different trackers to choose from these days but they are such a useful tool.

This looks so neat. I love my FitBit, but I am always losing it and washing it. This looks easier to keep track of.

So how does this compare to the Fitbit? Waterproof is obviously a plus.

It’s hard for me to answer since I haven’t worn it myself, but I do like the fact that it’s waterproof. I like the display better on the fitbit, being able to see your actual progress in numbers. I’ll get my husband to come answer as well. 🙂

Paula has me using this for her review. I like the ability to wear it like a watch and not worry so much about water getting to it. Also I like the fact that I don’t have to charge it or do anything to sync except get near my IPad.

What I don’t like about it is with the fit bit hitting 10,000 steps you feel like you made progress. With the Shine I find based on my goals, I am not meeting them and never seem to acheive the full circle. I could reduce my goals to something that is apparently more realistic but it is a mind game sometimes and I feel like I accomplish more with the fitbit.

Over all, I like it and it is reliable, small, durable, and easy to use (no charging)!

I really like that device, but it won’t work for me since it’s only compatible with Apple products.

I really do wish it was compatible with Android as well.
