We just came back from a trip to Kissimmee, FL. We took a day to go to the beach in Melbourne, FL (Indiatlantic Beach) and let me tell you, we were NOT prepared! We hadn’t intended to set out for the beach when we left our vacation house for the day. When we got there we were just in regular clothes and sandals. I luckily had some beach towels in the car. I couldn’t believe how much of a beach natural Little Man was! He is scared to death of getting in a pool, but when it came to the beach he practically ran into the waves. He was the first one to get soaked as he fell into the water. It was the most beautiful day on the beach. The wind was blowing so we never felt hot. There was a person windsurfing and another that was trying to surf but could never quite get up onto the board. It was really a fun time had by all. Buddy and Grandpa were trying to build sand castles. Dadddy was doing his best trying to keep Monkey and Little Man from being pulled out into the ocean never to be seen again.
I was glad that we had some water bottles in the car for two reasons: 1) I needed to rinse the kids off as much as possible because we picked a beach that had no showers and 2) I was able to bring home a little of the beach with us. It’s proudly displayed in Monkey’s room. The rest of the week the kids were begging to go back to the beach. We never did have a chance to make it back there. If we had, I would have been more prepared! Here’s what I would have had in my beach bag:
- Sunscreen
- Beach blanket
- Towels
- Swim Suits
- Beach toys
- Water Bottles
- Zippered Bags for collecting shells
- Lipton Tea and Honey packets
Unfortunately I didn’t have my Lipton Tea and Honey samples when we went on vacation. Since we got back from vacation, though, I’ve been taking my Lipton Tea and Honey everywhere with me. It’s so handy to be able to flavor a bottle of water with the Tea and go. I got to try three of the flavors: Mango Pineapple, Blackberry Pomegranate, and Iced Black Tea with Lemon. I didn’t like the Lemon flavor at all. The other two I have enjoyed at t-ball games and at Six Flags Great America and just on the go. The tea is only 5 calories per 8 oz serving, it is sweetened with honey, and is made from real tea leaves and real fruit flavors. I was a little tentative to try it because I’ve never been a huge honey fan, although it has been growing on me lately. I don’t taste the honey very much in these teas. I do, however, taste the sucralose in it. I wasn’t aware it was going to have sucralose when I agreed to try them. I’m not 100% against it, but I try not to have too much artificial sweeteners in my diet. I just wanted to make you aware that it has sucralose in it in case you are against it.
