Egg Dying with PAAS and Heinz Vinegar #Review

I remember dying eggs when I was younger with PAAS and vinegar. Dying eggs with my Mom was always so fun. I’m glad to pass on the tradition to my kids. We were asked to have some fun trying out PAAS and Heinz Vinegar this Easter season.I decided to try both organic, brown eggs and regular white eggs to see the difference. The kids couldn’t wait to try dying the eggs. They were begging me for about a week to do them.

You’ll see below in the closer pictures that the brown eggs didn’t seem to hold the color as well as the white eggs. I think they turned out pretty cool looking, though. The kids had a ton of fun drawing on the eggs with the clear crayon and watching the eggs dye around their words and drawings. Monkey even wrote her name all by herself. Unfortunately I accidentally dropped another egg on top of hers while it was dying and cracked it right over her name. Whoops! We also attempted putting stickers on the eggs and dying over the stickers so when you removed them you would have shapes. It didn’t work so well because the sticky stuff wanted to stay stuck to the eggs.

PAAS, Heinz Vinegar

I still think it’s fun to watch the tabs fizz up in the vinegar. That was always one of my favorite parts when I was growing up. The kids thought that was pretty cool, too. The box came with 9 different colors and we tried them all. The light pink and yellow didn’t show up well. Of course the kids kept wanting to put the brown eggs in those even though I told them it wouldn’t do much.

I liked how speckled the eggs looked, but I don’t think they’re really supposed to look that way. Do you have an iPad? (I just ordered mine and it should be here in about 2 weeks.) If you do already, PAAS has a new Egg Decorator App that you can download and virtually dye eggs. A nice CLEAN way to dye eggs, plus you don’t have 20 eggs in your fridge that you have to figure out what to do with them before they go bad. 🙂 A cool thing about the app is for every egg that is decorated, Heinz & PAAS will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation!  I can’t wait to get my iPad and try out this app! My kids love to create, so I’m sure they’d have a blast decorating eggs all the time!

I hope you have a Happy Easter and if you’re still planning to dye some eggs, check out PAAS and Heinz Vinegar!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Heinz and PAAS and received a Heinz Vinegar bottle, a PAAS Egg Dyeing Kit, and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate. All opinions are my own.

I’ve never thought about using brown AND white eggs – what a cool experiment!

We typically dye eggs every year, but this year we are doing them at church rather than at home.

We just used PAAS tonight for our egg coloring. The kids had a blast. Their favorite is always the “ugly” egg. My kids would love that speck looks.

Very cute, such a great family project! I really like the speckled egg also.

This is my daughter’s favorite way to dye easter eggs. And I remember doing this as a kid too 🙂
