A few of my fellow Chicago bloggers: Melisa, MJ, and Dwana are taking part in Operation Precious CARgo. It’s a special program put together by Chevy to collect registry items for a deserving, expecting Military Mom. Melisa is collecting items from the list (below) between now and March 22. There will be a baby shower event on March 17th in Naperville. I’ll be going to that event and would love to show the love from my blog followers. If you’d like to get me some stuff to bring to the baby shower, please email me at paula at frostedfingers dot com. Here is the list of items needed:
Diapers (sizes 4, 5 or 6)
Baby wipes
Bottles
Pacifiers
Blankets
Baby soap and baby lotion
Lanolin cream
Burp cloths
Onesies (gender-neutral)
Socks
Hats
Newborn lounger pillow
Hand sanitizer
Medical kit – thermometer, mini-nail clippers, bulb syringe, etc.
Hooded towel and washcloth
Sensory toys and/or stuffed animals
Here are all the ways Melisa is collecting items:
1. Save the date for Saturday March 17th! She will be at Chevrolet of Naperville, located at 1515 W. Ogden Avenue in Naperville (like the name says!), from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., hosting a very (very) (very) casual “baby shower”. She would love to feed you sweets when you come by, and chat with you for a spell. We won’t play ANY of those stupid baby shower games like blind-tasting baby food or guessing how long a piece of yarn we’d need to wrap around a pregnant woman’s stomach. She promises. Also, She heard a rumor that She might be making a rainbow cake that day.
2. If you know that you can’t make it on March 17th, you’ve got between tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday March 7) and Saturday March 17 at 1:00 to drop off items at the same place, Chevrolet of Naperville. The good folks there will secure the items until she leaves after the baby shower!
3. If you’re in the city, you can email me privately at melisawells(at)gmail(dot)com and she will be able to give you information about a city drop off with either herself or MJ and Dwana. (They haven’t worked those details out yet.)
4. Chevrolet has given her a $100 Visa gift card to use for her baby shower and/or items for the expectant mom. She’s using it all for her.
This sounds like a great program and I’d love to show that my readers can stand behind our military and help out an expectant mom. Please help me, help Melisa, help her. 🙂
