This one was an easy one to pull together. I didn’t have fish shaped cookie cutters, well at least not in my new “Bento” stuff so I cut his cheese into ships. I shaped his egg as a fish and made fish shaped turkey sandwiches. I threw in a few Swedish Fish because he loves them.
I just found out today that not only can I not send any nuts in his snacks but he can’t have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, either. I understand that there are kids with allergies in his class, but it stinks that it effects everyone. So no more of those peanut butter and jelly rollups. I don’t think it’ll bother Buddy too much because he’s not the biggest peanut butter fan to begin with. I’m really enjoying being creative with his lunches. Can’t wait to see what I can come up with this week. 🙂
Oh yeah, in your child’s school are they allowed to bring snack for the classroom? My son’s class they’re allowed to bring a water bottle and a healthy snack every day so they can snack while the teacher reads to them. This is new to me. I know they had snacks in preschool, but I’ve never heard of snacks in older grades.

Kelsey has snack time (and can keep a water bottle at her desk). I was surprised since there weren’t snacks in kindergarten. I was talking to one of the moms in her class who also has a 4th grader, and they still do snacks.

That is such a cute theme!
My son is in Kindergarten, so I do send him with a morning snack. I overpack a snack, actually. He usually chooses a drink and one snack item, but I like giving him the choice.
I think it’s great that Buddy has a snack time, no matter how old he is. Not having a snack mid-morning screws with everyone’s body – even kids.
My nephew is in 2nd grade and he has a morning snack.

In my kids’ classes they told them to bring a snack but that it must be healthy. That kinda bugged me because I’m all for healthy snacks, but if I want to send my kids a candy bar for a treat sometimes, that should be my option.
