Clear American Water, WalmartI was asked to give Clear American water a try and make a summer recipe with it. In case you don’t know, Clear American Water is sold at Walmart and Sams Club stores and it is a 0 calorie, no sodium, flavored, carbonated water. There are several flavors available. We choose Cherry, Strawberry, Mandarin Orange and White Grape. We bought a bunch of fruit along with the water and decided to make these fruity ice pops. You can see my step by step instructions in the ThisMoment attached at the bottom of this post.

After tasting the pops, I wasn’t impressed. I think the fruit sucked up all the flavor of the water because it was like sucking on a chunk of ice that had fruit in it. When I drink the water straight up, it has a nice strong flavor, but not too overpowering. The kids didn’t complain about lack of flavor, though. They really enjoyed the pops and keep asking me for more. I admit I won’t drink it a lot because I’m not a fan of artificial sweeteners. The water is sweetened with Sucralose. I like plain old sugar myself, but then you wouldn’t have a 0 calorie drink. 🙂 Having given up all soda, this is a nice way for me to get a flavored drink every once in a while. At my Walmart they are .68 each. Just a slight bit more than a can of pop, but you get more for your money! It definitely costs less than a 20 oz bottle of pop and you get a little over 13 oz more!

It’s a great idea to pour the water into molds. We’ve done that with juice and (ack, pop) but hadn’t even considered using the flavored waters! At least I know not to add fruit to it! Thanks.
