Ritter Sport Chocolate contacted me and asked if I’d like to have a chocolate tasting party. I jumped on that right away, although I’d never heard of Ritter Chocolates. Once I said yes, I got 3 boxes, 50 POUNDS, of chocolate delivered to my doorstep. Holy COW! We decided to join my chocolate tasting with our wine and cheese tasting for my mom’s group. It was a GREAT night out!
They had me set up a blind taste test where all my guests had to try a taste of six different types of Ritter chocolate and tell me what each type was. The girls got stumped on the strawberry and marzipan. There are so many different flavors of Ritter! There are 16 different types:
- Cornflake
- Neapolitan Wafer
- White Whole Hazelnuts
- Whole Hazelnuts
- Butter Biscuit
- Raisins and Hazelnuts
- Dark Whole Hazelnuts
- Dark Chocolate
- Marzipan
- Strawberry Yogurt
- Fine Extra Dark Chocolate
- Praline
- Extra Fine Milk Chocolate
- Alpine Milk Chocolate
- Peppermint
- Whole Almonds
- Mousse au Chocolat
- Yogurt
My top 3 favorites are cornflake, strawberry and biscuit. YUM! We also were sent 350 Ritter minis to build something with. We made an army fort.
Each family has its own traditions. The Ritter family has been keeping a sweet secret for almost a hundred years: the recipe for making great chocolate. What started in 1912 as a small family confectionary with Alfred Ritter and his wife Clara at the helm has developed into an internationally-successful family owned and operated company. RITTER SPORT is now sold in 80 countries and its success story continues to be written by the family’s third generation, Alfred T. Ritter and his sister Marli Hoppe-Ritter. RITTER SPORT is not just a family business that has grown over the years into a large company; RITTER SPORT is, above all, a large company that has remained a family. This is felt by the 800 employees in Waldenbuch and by its many customers worldwide. This is because the Ritter family uses its own name to vouch for the quality of each bar of chocolate that leaves its premises. Guaranteed.
We had a great time that night trying new chocolates, cheeses and wines. I got to bring with a wine to try from Plonk Wine Merchants, best bargain wine. I brought the Lagar de Costa Albariño wine. It was a white wine. I really enjoyed the flavor of the wine. It’s pretty strong to me, but I really like it. I can taste the wood flavors in it.
Lagar de Costa is a small family owned winery that’s been growing exceptional old vines Albariño for three generations in the village of Castrelo, in Rías Baixas. This elegant, limited production gem is packed with clean citrus flavors, minerals, and briny notes of seaspray that marry beautifully with fresh seafood.
