So I know I have not updated since Wednesday. It has been insane! Closing FINALLY happened on Wednesday. At 30 minutes before closing we still had no idea how much money to bring to the table. They told us just get a cashier’s check for $1000 made out to us. If they needed to give us some back, they would. Anyway, we were pleasantly surprised to walk away with that check plus some! The signing the paperwork part wasn’t bad AT ALL. I think we were done with that in approx 30 minutes. Closing took over 2 hours, though, because our bank was slow with the transfer and there were a few items wrong on the HUD. So we sat around just talking and listening to the two lawyers tell stories. It was very laid back. I was a little  LOT nervous about going to closing. I had no idea what to expect and you hear horror stories of things coming up last minute. We’d never met the husband and only heard bad things about him. I was afraid he’d not show up at all to sign, or show up and cause problems. Well, he didn’t show up, but he had already signed all the paperwork. Whew!

After closing we picked up the kids and headed to OUR new home. I still haven’t gotten my family picture taken outside of it yet but will hopefully get that done today. We have been working since we got in here. We have Charlie’s uncle, Kelly, and his friend, Dave here helping. Kelly is a certified plumber and man, it’s great to have him! We want to move the washer and dryer to the basement. We THOUGHT it was already roughed in for the washer to go down there. Then Kelly tested a pipe to see where the water drained out… into another room in the basement. ugh. So Kelly’s been tearing out drywall, running pipes and just working his butt off. Tomorrow they have to break cement in the basement and dig a big hole for an ejector pit. Who knew it would be this much work just to put two machines in the basement. Our friend is a licensed electrician and will be running the electrical.

Charlie’s parents have been a huge help so far as well. His Dad has come two days in a row and completely given the yard a makeover. His brother Robert came yesterday, too. The three of them worked for hours doing backbreaking yard work.

David’s Godparents came on Saturday and are coming again today. They got Monkey’s room ready for painting. Hopefully her room will be done today and ready for moving in to.

I’m so torn about this coming weekend. Charlie has to get the house moved Saturday and Sunday. The problem is I’m supposed to be going to WordCamp Chicago. I want to go SO badly. I want the knowledge. I NEED the break. I feel bad that I have to leave Charlie to move the house by himself, though. I have been looking forward to WordCamp for months.

Congratulations!! I am so glad that everything went smoothly at closing – hope you are able to get that washer and dryer down in the basement quickly – although I’ve got to say – that’s where mine is – and it’s a chore to bring it up and down the steps. 🙂 Have fun in Chicago – you will be a better Mom and Wife for having taking the time that you need. Have a great day!

Congrats on finally closing! I know how great a feeling that is!! Enjoy everything that goes into moving, and don’t feel TOO bad if you do go to camp 🙂 When we moved when I was 36 weeks pregnant with Violet I hardly did a thing, as you can imagine. This time around I wasn’t so lucky!!

I saw you tweeting from Word Camp today- I’m happy for you that you were able to go. It may be an inconvenient weekend for it, but every mom needs a break!
