September was a ten-book month for me — mostly romance, one absolutely wild dungeon adventure, and one book I will never get those hours back from. (You’ll see.)
I’m still reading every single day — the streak is past 1,970 days now — and I’m at 107 books toward my goal of 150 for the year. Forty-three to go. Let’s see if October cooperates.
Here’s everything I finished in September, with my honest star ratings:

★︎★︎★︎★︎★︎ The Five-Star Read
Gate of the Feral Gods by Matt Dinniman — Dungeon Crawler Carl, book 4. (Get it on Amazon) This series remains the most fun I’m having in books right now. Chaotic, heartfelt, genuinely funny — Carl and Princess Donut forever. If you haven’t started this series yet, what are you even doing?
★︎★︎★︎★︎ The Four-Star Romances
September was apparently romance month at my house, and I’m not mad about it.
Mile High by Liz Tomforde — Hockey romance that completely lived up to the hype. (Get it on Amazon) Long book, but I flew through it.
The Friend Zone and The Happy Ever Playlist by Abby Jimenez — I read these back to back (The Friend Zone on Amazon, The Happy Ever Playlist on Amazon) and Abby Jimenez is officially an auto-read author for me now. Funny, emotional, great banter.
Just Friends by Haley Pham — Sweet friends-to-lovers story. (Get it on Amazon) Quick, cozy read.
Nine Month Contract by Amy Daws — Fun premise, lovable characters, exactly what I wanted it to be. (Get it on Amazon)
Just Don’t Fall by Emma St. Clair — Closed out the month with this one. (Get it on Amazon) Charming and light — a perfect end-of-September read.
★︎★︎★︎ The Three-Star Reads
Lift Me Up by Milly Johnson — Gentle and warm. (Get it on Amazon) Not my favorite of hers, but a pleasant read.
The Wedding People by Alison Espach — Interesting premise and some really good moments, though it didn’t fully land for me. (Get it on Amazon)
★︎ The One-Star
Protected by the Bear Shifter by L. Rose — One star. I finished it so you don’t have to. (It’s on Amazon if you’re braver than me.)
October TBR
I’m hoping October brings a good mix — I’ve got a couple of thrillers calling my name, and I’m always up for another romance that makes me stay up too late.
What did you read in September? Give me your best recommendation — I need to get to 150 books by December 31st!
