October is my favorite reading month. The air turns crisp, the blankets come out, and I start reaching for the cozy books, the witchy books, and the twisty thrillers. My TBR shelf in Notion is 264 books deep (yes, really), so I pulled the ten I’m most excited to read this fall.

Here’s what’s on my nightstand stack:

Cozy Fall Reads

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna — A cozy witchy found-family story that’s all over BookTok. (Kindle · Paperback)

The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst — Cozy fantasy about a librarian hiding a sentient spellbook. Low stakes, high charm. (Kindle · Paperback)

The Cinnamon Bun Book Store by Laurie Gilmore — A romance set in a bookshop, in fall, with cinnamon buns in the title. Say less. (Kindle · Paperback)

Witchy & Halloween

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling — A witchy rom-com set around Halloween. This one has been on my list for ages. (Get it on Amazon)

The Kiss Curse by Erin Sterling — The follow-up to The Ex Hex, more witchy romance. (Kindle · Paperback)

Cackle by Rachel Harrison — Witchy horror-comedy with big Halloween energy. (Get it on Amazon)

Thrillers & Mystery

How to Kill a Guy in Ten Dates by Shailee Thompson — A thriller with a title I couldn’t resist. (Get it on Amazon)

Blood Orange by Karina Halle — A thriller I’ve heard good things about. (Get it on Amazon)

The Reimagining of Thornwood House by Jaleigh Johnson — A cozy mystery-fantasy about a witch, her ward, and a sentient house. (Kindle · Hardcover)

Horror

So Thirsty by Rachel Harrison — Vampires, from the author of Cackle. A proper fall horror pick. (Kindle · Paperback)

That’s my fall stack. I’ll report back in the monthly wrap-ups on which ones lived up to the hype — and which ones didn’t.
