Kraft Recipe MakersSometimes you just need a little help to make dinner come together faster. We really like sweet and sour chicken in our house so I wanted to give the new Kraft Recipe Makers a try and see how it would work for us. Their recipe only calls for white rice, but I like fried rice with it, so I made that to share with you.

Sweet and Sour Chicken

One thing I found is that I really like my sweet and sour chicken to have a coating on it. Of course I missed the tip at the bottom of the box telling me I could omit the fresh chicken and use 1 lb of cooked breaded chicken tenders. I will definitely give it a try that way next time.

Sweet & Sour Chicken and Fried Rice using Kraft Recipe Makers

Ingredients

Sweet and Sour Chicken

  • 1 box Kraft Recipe Makers Sweet & Sour Chicken
  • 1 1/2 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts or 1 lb cooked breaded chicken tenders
  • 1 red bell pepper coarsely chopped
  • 1 small red onion coarsely chopped
  • 1 8 oz can pineapple chunks drained

Fried Rice

  • 3 cups cooked white rice
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 cup frozen veggies
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 eggs slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Stir fry chicken in half the Simmer Sauce in large skillet until done.
  2. Make rice according to box directions
  3. Add vegetables and remaining Simmer Sauce to the chicken skillet. Cook and stir 2 to 4 mins or until vegetables are crisp-tender.
  4. On medium high heat, heat the oil in a large skillet or wok. Add the veggie mix, onion and garlic. Stir fry until tender.
  5. In chicken pan, stir in the Finishing Sauce and pineapple. Stir-fry 1 to 2 min or until heated through.
  6. In Rice pan, lower the heat to medium low and push the mixture off to one side, then pour your eggs on the other side of skillet and stir fry until scrambled.
  7. Now add the rice and soy sauce and blend all together well.
  8. Stir fry until thoroughly heated.
  9. Serve Chicken over rice and enjoy.
