Phineas and Ferb is a favorite in our house and when we heard that there was a full length movie coming out we were counting down the days. If you haven’t heard of Phineas and Ferb, it’s a Disney cartoon that focuses around two brothers, Phineas and Ferb, their sister, Candace and their pet platypus, Perry. Perry happens to also be a secret agent who is always trying to stop Dr. Doofenshmirtz. The show is set in the summer where Phineas and Ferb always have to figure out what they’re going to do that day. They come up with some kind of crazy scheme where they have to build an elaborate machine or scene. Phineas always says “Ferb, I know what we’re going to do today” and off they go on their crazy adventure. Candace always freaks out and wants to “bust them” by telling their Mom, but every time Mom gets close to seeing what the boys are up to, the whole thing has a way of disappearing.
A lot of my mom friends don’t agree with allowing their kids to watch Phineas and Ferb and I don’t really get it. I think it’s great that the boys are using their imaginations and doing something active every day of the summer instead of sitting around watching tv or playing video games in the house all day.
We were asked to screen the Phineas and Ferb Across the 2nd Dimension movie with our friends. We had a great time. My kids loved the movie. Here’s a synopsis from PhineasandFerb.wikia.com:
When Phineas, Ferb, and Perry follow Dr. Doofenshmirtz through his “Otherdimensionator”, they find themselves in an alternate universe where a second, truly evil Dr. Doof rules over his Tristate Area with an army of iron-fisted robots. To save his friends from certain doom, Perry makes the ultimate sacrifice by revealing his secret identity as Agent P. Phineas and Ferb escape, meet their 2nd dimension selves, and begin their own mission to rescue Perry.
As they uncover his plot to travel back to their dimension to take over their Tri-State Area, the gang, as well as their alter-egos, must band together to stop him.
So begins an epic battle as our heroes try to save their home from the clutches of Alt. Dr. Doof… and his sidekick Platyborg! Will Evil Doof succeed and achieve dual world domination? Will Candace finally bust her brothers? Find out in this action-packed, epic adventure – so huge that it crosses over time and space.
The kids all had a blast watching the movie and eating popcorn together. There was lots of laughing while watching the movie which is great to hear a bunch of kids laugh together. The parts when Phineas found out about Perry being a secret agent is pretty funny. I definitely recommend checking out Phineas and Ferb Across the 2nd Dimension. It premiered on the Disney channel on August 5, 2011. Disney plays it over and over, though, so you should be able to catch it.
The kids were able to take home a character backpack, stickers, tattoos, and pins with the whole crew on them. My favorite is Agent P. I love Perry. I even pinned a Perry pin on my purse and wore my Perry backpack on my back while at BlogHer.
