Chicken Salad Sandwich, taste off

I was asked to give both Arby’s and Subway Chicken Salad Sandwiches a try and tell you which I thought was better. I’m pretty new to liking chicken salad at all so I was a tiny bit scared to take the challenge as I thought I wouldn’t like either! I’m trying to make myself try new things so I decided to try it out.

3.    Hearty bread or new whole grain flatbread with quality ingredients like diced apples, grapes, celery, pecans and grilled chicken

I got the Chicken Salad Wrap while my husband got the sandwich. I really enjoyed all of the flavors that came out with every bite of my wrap. I liked that it didn’t taste like a bunch of mayo and chicken, because honestly, I’m not a fan of mayo! Think of the movie “The Whole Nine Yards” where Bruce Willis’ character was complaining about mayo… that’s me! My kids all tasted my wrap as well and once they got a bite they didn’t want to leave it alone.

One of the things I’ve never liked about Arby’s is the price. It cost $23 to feed my family of 5. That was with a coupon for my wrap and my husband’s sandwich to be $2.99 each. Right now if you go to Arby’s Facebook page you can get a coupon to try the sandwich or wrap for free with the purchase of a 22 oz Pepsi product.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed in the Subway sandwich. I love Subway and I’ve been craving it for weeks since they are in most Wal-Mart stores (where I work.) I love the smell of their fresh baked bread. Think back to a few paragraphs ago where I was complaining about mayo… You got it! The only thing I tasted on this sandwich was mayo. 🙁 I couldn’t even eat half of my 6″ sub.

It’s nice that you can get this sandwich as one of their $5 footlongs, but you’d have to like the sandwich in order for it to be a good deal. 🙁

So, you have it. My favorite is the Arby’s sandwich, hands down! Too bad they took Arby’s out of my town, I’d pick this up a lot more. (I didn’t realize Arby’s was gone until I pulled into the parking lot and saw it was empty. whoops!)

  16. I’ve had both and while I agree that the Arby’s chicken salad is really tasty, I do enjoy the one from Subway (just had one on Thursday actually). The biggest selling point is that the Arby’s sandwich is a whopping 844 calories and 44 grams of fat, the wrap is 631 calories and 41 grams of fat, whereas the Subway sandwich is 370 calories and 8 grams of fat (of course that can vary with what you put on it).

  99. I like both Arby’s and Subway. I go to Subway more but I’m getting tired of it. I love Arby’s healthy sandwiches! They are delicious. I really do prefer Arby’s, but like you, the price is a little prohibitive sometimes.
