Lately I have been trying to tell my husband and children “I love you” as much as I can (without being annoying.) What brought this on? Well, besides the love of my family, on September 12 this year I was listening to the Homily at church and Father Gavin asked us three questions. If you were one of the people on the planes or in the buildings that knew you were about to die on September 11, 2001:
1) Who would you call?
2) What would you say?
3) What are you waiting for?
I have so many people I’d want to call, but one of the most important people in my life is my Mother-in-law. I’m blessed to have her in my life. I’m so glad to have a Mother-in-law that I not only tolerate, but love! The next morning Monkey, Little Man and I brought her over some flowers and a card. I wanted her to know how important she is to me. There are so many more people in my life I need to reach out to and let them know I care. I think that’s going to be a focus for me next week. Reach out to one person per day that I love and let them know it. Will you join me?
1) Who would you call?
2) What would you say?
3) What are you waiting for?

I think that is a great idea. There are a million people that I would want to call, but if I was in that situation, I would for sure call my husband and kids.
I think I will try to meet your goal this week too, everyone needs to hear once in a while that they are loved 🙂

This is a great reminder that we shouldn’t wait until it’s too late to tell people we care for that we love them. I think that we may live with lots of regrets for not doing so…

Wow, that’s so thought provoking…
I tell my husband and kids I love them every day, but not sure about everyone else in my life.

I tell my hubs and kids every day, and I never end a phone call without saying I love you to the family member on the other end. On the off chance that I do, I call right back. Which my family thinks is hilarious.

I love yous are common in our house and with the family I’m close too. I even find I say I love you to my sister in law when we hang up the phone.

I love you was always something we said growing up, whether leaving each other for the day, saying goodbye on the phone or as part of the goodnight ritual. Now that I’m out on my own, it doesn’t come as often since I am far from my family, but once in a while I will send an email or my mom will send a card just to say “I love you”. It’s good to hear and be reminded that even though I’m far away, I have people out there who care about me.

I tell my kids I love them at least a couple times a day if not more. They get lots of kisses from mom too!

Paula, this is a GREAT idea! I don’t know why we wait to tell the people who matter most to us how much we love and appreciate them. Sometimes we need a friendly nudge to get us going! Thanks for the nudge! ;D

That is a fantastic thing to think about – I myself to often get caught up in the day to day annoyances and don’t do that nearly enough. Thanks for the little push, I’m going to try and do that today 🙂
