I put fake roses on the top layer of the cake and cut the stems off the roses. Monkey decided (after I got that bottom layer perfectly smooth) that she wanted to help decorate and jammed the stems into the cake. “Look Daddy, I helped!” You should have seen my husband’s face!! Luckily it was whipped cream frosting and VERY easy to fix!
Oh.My…..lol
it still looks delicious!
Uh oh! Gotta love young helpers π
There’s nothing like a helper monkey! Glad it was easy to fix, it sure looks tasty!
Still looks yummy…I wish I could get a cake to look that smooth! Glad it was an easy fix.
The trick is to dip your spatula into a glass of hot water and swipe it over the frosting.
Cake still looks yummy!
oh no! She had a good heart though didn’t she? I guess this is how she will learn what NOT to do and she will know more than me about cake decorating π
Lol! I thought you were going to say someone had stuck their little fingers in there! So glad you saved it looks great!
THAT happens ALL the time! (Hence the name Frosted Fingers) π
Oh, no! Glad it was easy to fix. I think my heart would have stopped. The rest looks so pretty and clean.
Even with the stab wounds (lol) it still looks better than any cake I could make!
Yikes!! At least you could fix it. Sounds like you have a little apprentice on your hands π
That looks like almost every cake my kids try to “help” me make. Happy WW!
Love it when the kids “help”.
Oh my GOSH don’t you HATE when kids do that?! LOL But for some reason, cake icing is just SOOOO inviting to little fingers π haha Glad you were able to fix it!!
I’m glad it was easy to fix. I would’ve been horrified.
You did such a smooth job for frosting… does using the whipped cream frosting help with that?
Whipped Cream frosting was a DREAM to frost with. It was not a dream, however, to decorate with. It separates from the heat of your hand. If you look on my cakes page you can see the giraffe and lion cake I did recently. That was with whipped cream.
LOL LOL LOL…Totally something I would do!
Kids will be kids? LOL. Good thing it was easy to fix.
I love it. Kids do some funny stuff
Oh No! Well at least she had good intentions and luckily it was an easy fix π
at least the marks weren’t finger marks!!! My bro used to be infamous for this, I caught him trying to pass it along to my son at Christmas time…Pies might have to be kept in the upstairs fridge from now on!!!
Finger marks happen ALL THE TIME here, too. Especially when you have 3 kids!!
Still looks yummy!
Oh No! So glad that it was an easy fix…how did you ever get it that smooth in the first place lol? Have a great week!
aww glad it was an easy fix
What a priceless photo! It still looks yummy with the holes…
I’m sure this is one of the joys of decorating cakes and having kids π It looks delicious and pretty nonetheless!
oh no! Glad it was easy to fix π
Aw, I love how kids always want to help! I say bake them a cake and give them frosting and sprinkles and let them go to town while you work on your own! And then shower them in praise when they rock at decorating!! π
Oopsie…good thing it was easy to fix!
That cake still looks pretty fantastic!
Uh-oh someone’s in trouble lol.
Kas
What? Cakes aren’t normally supposed to look like that? Maybe that’s why people always look at my cakes will goofy looks on their face.
I’d love to see it completed!
Nicole it’s on my cakes page if you want to see it π
Ha! Looks like things my little one has done . . only she wasn’t helping. She was sampling!
I am glad it was an easy fix because it looks like a beautiful cake. I am definitely not a baker or an artist lol.
Oh wow, I am glad you were able to fix that! My cake this past weekend was so bad I submitted it to cake wrecks. I am never making a cake when I am sick ever again! LOL
Oh my gosh, I probably would have died if my kids did that, but luckily it wasn’t fondant.
That thought came to my mind, too!
So glad it was an easy fix! Things like that happen around here all the time!
UMMM I think thats the kind of help I can do without. But at least they were trying!
Man…now I want some cake! At least she was trying to be helpful though…right? My son sticks his fingers in cake just because “I got hungry”
Well at least she wanted to help, and it was easy to fix! Cake decorating is such a labor of love, and then, we eat it! Sort of sad isn’t it?! LOL!
Ah, the joys of having children. I love it.
My kids are ALWAYS doing this!
Oh my goodness! I probably would have had a fit! Glad it was easy to fix!!
Oh no! I love when my kids try to “help” *sigh* π
Oh No! I think my kids do that just about everytime I try and make a cake..LOL!
HAHA that sucks, but it’s cute. π
You did a great job and the added mistake adds nothing but character. =)
I am glad it was an easy fix for you. but I would of eaten it no matter how it looked π don’t try that kind of stuff any more, decorating, I still love to eat them !
Too funny, but it still looks yummy.
You make some awesome looking cakes! I want one LOL
Good thing it was an easy fix! I have a terrible time decorating cakes so I would have been so frustrated! It looks yummy, finger prints and all, lol. π
LOL gotta love the little helpers!
Its so hard to be upset when they really think they are helping. Gotta love those helpful little fingers:)
Aww! LOL!
LOL, oh um… that isnt how they are SUPPOSED to look!? heheheee…
Yes it still looks yummy!! Cake Decoration Supply
