Bite Sized Brunch #Recipe and #Giveaway

Land O LakesWith Mother’s Day coming up, it’s time to start thinking brunches. What’s better than a Bite-Sized Brunch? Land-O-Lakesasked me to share with you a bite-sized egg recipe. Before I give you mine, here are three ideas that they gave me to use.

  1. Bacon-Topped Deviled Eggs
  2. Breakfast Biscuit Bakes
  3. Mini Mexi Bites

They all sounded good, but I wanted to give you something simple and quick to make. Here’s a little “Did you know?” about Land-O-Lakes Eggs:

There are four varieties of all-natural eggs offered under the LAND O LAKES brand: Farm-Fresh All-Natural Eggs, Cage-Free All-Natural Eggs, All-Natural Eggs with 160 mg ALA Omega 3 and Organic All-Natural Eggs. All varieties are produced by hens fed a premium vegetarian, whole-grain diet.

We tend to use Organic Brown eggs in our house now. We even dyed brown eggs for Easter. Speaking of Easter, you can use dyed deviled eggs as a bite-sized brunch item for your spread for Mother’s Day, as well. There are so many fun ways to make bite-sized items. I’ve always had a thing for mini foods and mini toys, so this was a fun recipe to pull together.

Ok, I’m going to share my simple bacon and cheese bite-sized eggs recipe with you and then below it will be a giveaway to win a very fun prize pack from Land-O-Lakes.

SodaStream Review and Giveaway

review, giveaway

IHHS12, Chicago, International Home and Housewares ShowRemember when I went to the International Home and Housewares Show in Chicago? I was able to go to a blogger event and meet SodaStream! They had Jillian Michaels come and talk to us about why she likes SodaStream. She said that Bob was the first person to tell her about it. SodaStream contacted me after the event and asked me if I’d like to try one out and also if I’d like to give one out to one of you lucky readers!

What is SodaStream?

Making carbonated water and soft drinks is simple! Turn tap water into sparkling water in under 30 seconds, with no clean-up. Enjoy the freshness and convenience of homemade soda and protect the environment at the same time. No heavy bottles to carry, store at home or throw away. Fizz to your taste and add the flavor of your choice to make your favorite drink. Simple to clean and reuse. With a variety of colors and silhouettes, you’ll be sure to find a soda maker to match with any decor.

One of the things I like about SodaStream, because I’m watching my calories, is that even the regular sodas are lower in calories than store bought. A Cola made at home is 35 calories per 8 ounces where the calories in a Coca-Cola is 97 calories in 8 ounces. The Cola is pretty darn close to the flavor of the real thing (as long as you get your mix right!)

So how do you make your own soda at home? Your SodaStream comes with a CO2 bottle that fits into the back of the machine. You fill your bottle with tap water to the line printed on it. Screw your bottle into the SodaStream, press the button on top 3 times, and unscrew your bottle. After you’ve carbonated your water, you pick your soda flavor and pour a full cap of soda into your water. (Make sure you tip your water bottle sideways a little, as if you’re pouring beer, so that it doesn’t explode like a volcano!) It’s nice that the SodaStream uses no electricity, so you can put it anywhere. It’s so easy to move around that you can put it away when not in use so you’re not taking up precious counter real estate!

I brought my SodaStream to my Mother’s in law house for Easter and had a good time making soda for everyone. We made Regular Cola, Cola Free, and Root Beer at the party. I put too much cola syrup in the regular because I was using the smaller bottle and it’s sometimes hard to judge how much soda flavor to put it. The Root Beer was a hit, though! My favorite so far has been Orange. I did try the Raspberry water flavoring, but I’m not a fan of carbonated waters, so I didn’t like it. The Raspberry flavor was good, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t like flavored carbonated waters. SodaStream has so many flavors to choose from! They have regular, diet, energy drinks, My Water, Sparkling naturals, sparkling waters and sparkling teas. It seems like whatever you like to drink that has CO2 in it, you can make with SodaStream!

Each CO2 cartridge is supposed to make 60 or 130 liters of soda, depending on which size you have. If you buy a 130 Liter CO2 cartridge and your flavors, each Liter of soda should cost you around .65 to make. It’s so much easier to store your SodaStream than it is to store heavy bottles and cases of soda. Because you are not throwing a way a ton of cans or plastic bottles, you are also helping to save the environment. Click here to learn more. SodaStream sodas are not sweetened with high fructose corn syrup, no preservatives and less salt. They do use sucralose to sweeten the drinks.

How would you like to win a SodaStream? One of my lucky readers will win a Fountain Jet that comes with a CO2 cartridge, 1 liter bottle and sample pack of flavors.

ZeroWater Pitcher #Review and #Giveaway

Water is important to me, so the quality of the water is really important as well. I’m working really hard at getting in at least 8 glasses of water a day and when the water tastes bad, it’s really hard to get it down! In comes ZeroWater to the rescue!

With the ZeroWater Pitcher you can get cleaner, fresher water without tapping into your plumbing line, using bulky water coolers, and wasting your money on expensive bottled water. Thanks to an innovative five-stage filtration process, the ZeroWater Pitcher offers more complete water filtration than ordinary carbon filters. And for convenience, this pitcher neatly stores right in your refrigerator door.
More Effective, Affordable, and Than Other Filters
Even if you live in a municipality that cleans or treats water, water can pick up chemicals on its way from the treatment plant to your faucet, giving your tap water a metallic or chlorinated taste. Water that’s purified with a ZeroWater Pitcher, however, tastes the way water should: crisp, clean, and fresh.

You can see above, on the right, the readings that my water got. The top reading is straight from the tap. The second reading comes from what is supposedly filtered water in a different spout on my sink. I’m sure the filter needs to be changed as we’ve lived here almost two years now and haven’t changed it from the previous owners. Then you can see the readout of the water after it went through the ZeroWater filter. My water always had a strange taste to it. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great, either. I love the taste of the water after it’s gone through the ZeroWater pitcher. I’ve even noticed my ice cubes are much more clear when made with the ZeroWater! It makes it a LOT easier for me to get my water in now that it tastes good. I love the spout on the bottom of the pitcher that you can use while your water is filtering so you don’t spill over. The downsides are that the filter works kind of slow. If you go through water a lot, you have to wait a while for it to refill.

Buy It:

You can buy a ZeroWater pitcher here and use the coupon code MC30 to get 30% off of the 10 cup pitcher.

Win It:

2 Winners will receive a ZeroWater Pitcher of their own.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Note: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of ZeroWater and received a water pitcher to facilitate my review, two pitchers to giveaway, and extra filters to thank me for taking the time to participate
