Proud of myself

I just want to pat myself on the back a little here. For at least the past week, even though I have a sprained ankle, I have made almost every meal at home and every night my sink has been empty and shined. It feels good to wake up in the morning to a clean kitchen. It makes it so much easier to get my husband off to work in the morning. He’s started a new job this week and I’m extremely proud of him. He’s worked so hard to get where he is and he works so hard to provide for our family. I want him to come home to a happy, clean home with a nice meal on the table. We kind of have the old fashioned relationship where the wife stays home to take care of the house and kids and he provides for us. I’ve been fortunate enough to make money through blogging to help supplement his income and help us to do fun things or provide fun Christmas presents for our kids and families.

I’m also proud of myself that I’ve blogged every day since January 1st and I reached my goal last month of sharing a cookie recipe every week day between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’m really trying hard to bring you quality recipes, pictures, and posts. If there’s something you’d like to see here, please let me know.

One of my goals this year is to post more personal stuff so here’s post 1. :) I know when I go blog hopping I love to read personal posts from the people to get a look into who they are. It’s what keeps me coming back. I hope to share more of myself with you to hopefully keep you coming back.

Hope you’re having a wonderful New Year so far!

Merry Christmas

Frosted Fingers, Chicago Mom BloggerI just wanted to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas! I can’t believe I did it, but I made my goal of getting a cookie recipe a day up between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Whew! I’m taking the rest of this weekend to enjoy with my family and friends. I still have hours of wrapping ahead of me, making wreath cookies, and sides for tomorrow. I may even make a birthday cake for Jesus for tomorrow, if I have time.

I look forward to sharing more yummy recipes, fun products and more personal stuff in the new year. I hope you stick around!

Merry Christmas!

Happy Anniversary!

Today is two years since I started this blog. It’s amazing how fast time flies! I just wanted to thank all of you that have been around since day one and also thank all of you that have come to visit me since then! I love my readers and hope you’re all enjoying my daily cookie post before Christmas. To celebrate my 2 year anniversary I am going to have some kind of new giveaway starting every day over the next week. Unfortunately it’ll be too close to Christmas for you to get your prizes beforehand, but hopefully you’ll still enjoy them after the fact!

I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

UPromise is turning 10 and sharing $20,000!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of UPromise for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Do you have a UPromise Account for your child yet? I signed up for Buddy when he was just born. I’ve since added the other two kids. I have to admit I earned more money in Florida when Buddy was a baby than I do now. I need to get back into using it more often!

In celebration of UPromise’s 10th Birthday they are having a contest to give away 10- $1,000 prizes and 1- $10,000 prize. All you have to do to enter is share your dreams for your child or children at www.upromisetodream.com.

Our dreams for our kids is that they all turn out happy and healthy and that they are able to pursue whatever career path they may choose. (Too bad they won’t be able to go to the moon if they should choose!)

If you haven’t signed up yet, you should definitely sign up for UPromise. It’s a great way to save for your children or Grandchildren. If you don’t have kids yourself, you can even sign up to save for a friends child or yourself!

I’d love for you to share with me what your dreams are for your children. If you enter the contest, good luck to you!

Don’t forget to check out the dream wall official rules.

I like to read…

A lot! I’ve read 15 books since the beginning of June. I’m looking for a new series to get into. Some of the series that I have read are:

The Stephanie Plum Series

The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series

The Sookie Stackhouse Series

Vampire Academy

The Meredith Gentry Series

Fablehaven

The Percy Jackson Series

The Katie Chandler Series

Those are all the series of books I’ve read the past 1.5 years. I guess I like mystery and fantasy books. I would love any kind of recommendations you could give me.

Overwhelmed

I just want to apologize to all my loyal readers and PR. I started working about 2 months ago and I’m just in over my head! I’m trying to handle everything: working, cleaning, cooking, blogging, spending time with my kids and husband. Something has to give. I am NOT WonderWoman and I can NOT do it all. I am going to start dedicating time each weekend to get the majority of my blog posts done for the week. I hate being behind. I hate feeling like I have all these things sitting on my shoulders and I just can’t catch up.

So please bare with me as I transition through this new time in my life. For all I know I won’t have this job tomorrow, so I’m just trying to take everything one day at a time.

I can share that I will be reviewing an awesome Bounce House next month! I can not wait to share that with you.

Shopping as a Teen

Spencer GiftsWhat stores do you remember shopping at as a teen? One of my favorite stores to go into was Spencer’s, although I almost never bought anything there. They have unique gifts for family and friends including these silly Black/White Alien Stripe Knee High Socks. They have a bigger selection then I remember. I always felt like I was pushing the envelope by walking in there. I would say, now that I’m a mom, that I wouldn’t really want my teenager hanging out there. They do have gifts for all ages, but they have stuff that is more adult in nature. I haven’t been there in a while, so maybe those things are not quite as accessible as they were when I was a teen.

Donatello HatIt’s totally fun finding brands from when I was a kid, such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles items! When I was in middle school, three other girlfriends and I always said we were the turtles. (Yes, we were very high with the “cool” factor) I was Donatello. :) They even have Sesame Street and the Muppets merchandise there. My sister Michelle LOVED Kermit the Frog. They also have cool brands like: Marvel, DC Comics, Twilight,  and Nintendo. Maybe I’ll have to check out the Nintendo selection for my son’s birthday. He can’t seem to get enough Mario items. I’d actually like to get myself one of those hinged wallets, except half the time I’m throwing my little change purse wallet in my jeans and not carrying a purse. Those wallets would be way too big.

If you’re a mother of a teenager, what stores do your kids shop in? Seeing that mine are still 6 and under, I’m dealing with The Disney Store, candy and toy stores.

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post, but all opinions within are my own.

Today I am Thankful for…

FOOD! I am sharing that with you. Below you will see 3 giveaways for different restaurants. You get Chili’s, Cold Stone Creamery and Restaurant.com. All three contests end on 12/9/10 so that I can get them out to you before Christmas! Happy Entering!

I also want to say I’m extremely thankful for family and that my husband has a job. (It’s extremely hard to deal with at times, but thankful he has it!) Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours.
